Orange market overview
Chevron Phillips Chemical and QatarEnergy are building Golden Triangle Polymers, an $8.5 billion integrated polymers plant southwest of the city between Foreman Road and Highway 87, expected to start up in 2027 with more than 500 permanent jobs and approximately 4,500 construction jobs (Golden Triangle Polymers). It sits beside the existing Chevron Phillips Orange plant and the Highway 87 / FM 1006 industrial corridor.
I-10 is the city's busiest road by TxDOT count and the main draw for highway retail, fuel and hotels; SH 87 (16th Street) and SH 62 carry local retail. The Port of Orange and Lamar State College Orange add maritime and training demand downtown.
Construction-phase demand has favoured laydown yards, contractor offices and workforce housing near Highway 87; once the plant is running, the permanent workforce supports service retail and professional office space in Orange and Bridge City.
